Just over three years ago and by chance I found myself walking past The Mortgage Clinic and thought I would just ask if it would be possible to get a mortgage despite a not too good credit history. A welcoming smile met me at the front desk and after a little chat it was clear there was no problem in getting a mortgage. Home I went and before we knew it our house had been put up for sale and sold. They arranged our new mortgage with a little known building society (due to my poor credit history) and I admit to feeling a little concerned, but rest assured this was to be a mistake on my behalf. Within a short time we found the home of our dreams and there was our adviser already with a solicitor in place, survey arranged and all we needed to do was get a Yes off the vendor. After a nail biting few days our offer was accepted. Once the survey came back he dealt with a problem which appeared and in the process saved us £3,000! With all the house buying in place we were then passed onto the boss who began to work on getting the best deal with regards to Life and Home Insurance which I felt he was very successful in doing.

On the 27th June 2003 at 2.00 pm and whilst attending a wedding, the house we fell in love with was ours, the only hard part was getting up the following Saturday morning and moving.

In July 2006 my husband became ill and it wasn't until this point I realised how important the day I walked into The Mortgage Clinic. After a few intensive weeks we were sadly told that my husband had cancer and would need a life saving operation, which he might not recover from fully. After three months off work and very little sick pay were financially struggling.

I returned to The Mortgage Clinic for help with the Insurances we had been paying towards for the past years. Our adviser took control and was fantastic in dealing with the Insurance Company we were with for Life and Sickness, but at the same time was very realistic in the time scale for the company to deal with the claim. At this point he put on another hat and dealt with the mortgage company. Remember the little unknown bit before and me not being to sure? How wrong I was because our adviser had found us the best little known building society (who dealt with poor credit history). Thankfully he arranged a three months grace on our mortgage payment enabling the Insurance company time to deal with the claim. Walking out of The Mortgage Clinic that day after the help and support I felt a weight had been lifted. This left me able to care for both my husband and disabled son, with the peace of mind knowing that all the financial obligations, regarding our much loved home had been dealt with.

Some months on now the Insurance has dealt with our claim and are paying our mortgage even though my husband is between treatments and has returned to work two days per week.

This is due to a thing called percentage payments which is linked to the illness part of the insurance.

Just to add, although we are happy with our insurance company regarding the life/sickness cover, looking back I wish we had taken out a bit more insurance to cover things like in case of getting cancer. I know we all think, "well that's not going to happen to me", but in the event that it does the peace of mind in knowing you have it covered is well worth the extra you pay each month.

Lastly you know when you have got a good advisor; they are the ones that go the extra mile for you and long term become a friend. I can say hand on heart that is what you get from The Mortgage Clinic.
